Americans are prayerfully hopeful about the outcome of the war with Iran. For decades, Iran's Islamic Republic has repressed its own people while supporting militant organizations and challenging the United States and its allies throughout the Middle East.
Iran has supported groups including Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, while attacks involving Iranian-made weapons and improvised explosive devices have contributed to the deaths of American and allied personnel in the region.
Iran's treatment of its own citizens is equally disturbing. Human-rights organizations have documented mass arrests, politically motivated prosecutions, and executions of protesters and dissidents. Amnesty International reported that at least 36 people had been arbitrarily executed following politically motivated convictions since the February 2026 attacks, with dozens more facing execution.
A Necessary Response to Iran
President Donald Trump has argued that confronting Iran now is preferable to allowing its military and nuclear capabilities to become even more difficult to contain.
The objective should be clear: limit Iran's ability to threaten its neighbors, prevent the development of nuclear weapons, and protect freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Strait is one of the world's most important energy shipping routes, making its security critical not only to the United States but to the global economy.
Hoping for a Limited but Effective Outcome
Military action always carries serious risks, particularly in such a volatile region. The hope should be that American power can accomplish its objectives without creating a wider and more destructive conflict.
Iran's people deserve the opportunity to live under a government that respects their rights and allows them to determine their own future.
The Iranian regime should understand that continued aggression has consequences. At the same time, Americans should pray for the safety of our service members, for innocent civilians, and for a peaceful resolution that protects America's security and the stability of the Middle East.
A strong response today may prevent an even greater threat tomorrow.
